Hearing enemy footsteps is i'm a sex freak videosvital to success in Call of Duty, and while PC players have always been able to tweak settings to amplify footstep audio, console players have always been pretty much stuck with the default. That’s changed thanks to a new PlayStation 5 update.
On top of bringing back the classic home screens, the April 24 PS5 update has brought the new Audio Focus setting. This is designed to amplify certain sounds like dialogue, party chat voice, and footstep audio.
Article continues after adThis works in a similar way to PC’s Loudness Equalization setting. Loudness EQ levels out high and low audio, lowering loud sounds while boosting softer ones like footsteps. Audio Focus is custom-designed for gaming, though, specifically highlighting footstep noise, which can be super helpful in Black Ops 6 and Warzone.
How to use Audio Focus
To use Audio Focus on PS5, first, make sure you install the latest system update. Second, make sure you use headphonesas the setting won’t work without them. With that out of the way, here’s how to use it:

- Scroll down to Sound.
- Select Volume.
- Find Audio Focus under Accessibility.
- Select “Boost High Pitch” to hear louder footsteps.
I wouldn’t recommend putting the adjustment level above Medium as it can get a bit too loud, but try out the different settings and see what works best for you and your headset.
Now, you’ll be able to hear footsteps much more clearly and pinpoint exactly where enemies are coming from, putting you on a more level playing field with those on PC.
It’s not going to be for everyone, though. You might find the game’s audio doesn’t sound as good as it does without Audio Focus, but if you prioritize a competitive advantage above all else, it’s worth a try.
