Danielle Collins and Hiroshi Moroto, both of Los Angeles, view the 16thannual New Year’s Shikishi exhibition, hosted by the Japanese American Cultural and Community Center on Jan. 5.Shikishipaperboards have been used in Japan since the 12th century for painting and writing poetry. This year’s theme was “Hatsu-Kagami” (First Mirror). The exhibition is on view through Sunday, Feb. 2, at the JACCC, 244 S. San Pedro St. in Little Tokyo. Gallery hours: Tuesday through Friday, 12 to 5 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; closed Mondays and holidays. Admission to the George J. Doizaki Gallery is free.
