The Southeast Japanese School and Community Center held its 61st annual Cultural Festival and Ondo last weekend, June 8-9 in Norwalk.
Rafu Shimpocontributor Mark Kuroda attended and has captured a portfolio images for a photo essay that heralds the start of summer and the local Obon season.
The days’ events featured musical performances including Hikari Taiko (above), art exhibits, martial arts demonstrations, ikebana and historical exhibits, a rummage sale, dances, bingo, plenty of tasty food and of course, the traditional evening ondo dances.
